Weight Management
Weight Management
We are able to refer eligible patients for a free 12 week weight management programme through Beezee. The programme offers either in person or online support and is designed to help patients make realistic and long term changes establishing healthy habits for life.
If you would like to be referred to the weight management programme, please complete our online form.
Weight Loss Injections
Weight loss injections, such as Mounjaro, Wegovy and Ozempic, are not widely available to patients on the NHS in Oxfordshire for the treatment of obesity. However, Mounjaro is now available to a very limited group of patients struggling with obesity and related health conditions and meeting strict eligibility criteria; if you meet those criteria and we believe you may be eligible, we will contact you and invite you to attend an initial face to face assessment including recording an up to date BMI score.
If you have not received an invitation but believe you may be eligible, you should first attend the surgery to use our Surgery Pod and complete our ‘Weight Loss Questionnaire’ to record your weight and height and give us an up to date BMI. The Pod records the data directly into your patient record and is located in the ground floor corridor, you do not need an appointment to use it.
Once you’ve completed the Surgery Pod questionnaire, please also complete this online form and we will review your record and contact you to confirm the support we are able to offer you. It’s important that you complete both steps in order for us to review your results and confirm eligibility.
Many people choose to use private clinics to obtain weight loss injections, not all of which have suitably qualified doctors supervising safe prescribing. Patients choosing this option should ensure they research and are satisfied with the safety and qualifications of the private service or clinician they choose. It is the responsibility of the private clinic to ensure that they are prescribing safely, in accordance with national guidelines, and that they fully explain the risks, side effects and intended benefits of the medication to their patients. Some of these clinics have been asking NHS GPs to monitor patients they are prescribing to, and to check their patient records; please note that the NHS does not have the capacity to do the work of private providers in this way, or to provide advice to patients about their private treatment.
