HPV & Meningitis ACWY Vaccination Campaign

In the last week of July, we will be inviting patients who missed their HPV vaccination at school to book into our vaccination clinics taking place during August.

During these clinics, we will also be offering the Meningitus ACWY vaccination to those who are eligible.

The invites will be sent via text message or email and will include a self booking link, allowing you to choose a convenient time to come to the surgery.

If you believe you are eligible but have not received an invitation by August, please complete our secure online form so we can confirm your eligibility and get an invite out to you.

HPV (Human Papillomavirus)

HPV vaccination is now offered in a quick, single injection in the upper arm and protects against genital warts, some mouth and throat cancers, and some other cancers of the genital areas and has reduced the numbers of deaths from cervical cancer by almost 80% since 1950.

HPV infection is common – more than 70% of unvaccinated people will get it and as it is present on the skin around the whole genital area, using condoms does not provide complete protection.

Meningitis ACWY

Meningitis is a thankfully rare but serious disease affecting the lining of the brain which can be life-changing, leading to amputations, hearing loss, brain damage and scarring. Older teenagers and young adults are at higher risk of infection and vaccination is safe and effective. The Men ACYW vaccine will increase your protection against Meningitis C even if you had that vaccination as a child and will help to protect against other strains.
