A brief history

Montgomery-House Surgery is named in recognition of our founding doctors. The Practice was established in Pevensey House, Sheep Street by Dr Gordon Montgomery in 1918 on his return from serving in WW1. He was joined by Dr Arthur House in 1937 and the two worked together until Dr Montgomery retired in 1954.

The Practice moved to Bell Lane, and moved again in 1975 to the Health Centre, then across the road to our current building in Piggy Lane in 1998.  We currently serve around 17,000 patients in Bicester and the surrounding area.

Our current Partners are Dr Will O’Gorman, Dr Kate Frankland, Dr Joshua Scales and our Practice Manager, Tracey Bishop.

We have been a GP teaching and training practice for many years, training GP Registrars. Dr Sue Danton and Dr Catherine Whittington are our current GP trainers and teaching of Registrars and medical students is shared as much as possible between all members of the Practice allowing trainees a broader range of experience. We are accredited by the General Medical Council (GMC) as a Training Practice for Doctors undertaking the Sports & Exercise Medicine specialisation.
