Discussions advance on Bicester’s new health hub.

Planning for Bicester’s new ‘Super Surgery’ is continuing with a further meeting held this week between some of those with a key interest in the project. Bicester GPs and Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group invited local patients’ groups and community representatives to discuss the criteria that may be used in coming to a decision on which site is chosen.

The new, purpose-built, £15m health hub is expected to be at either Kingsmere or Graven Hill. Both Alchester and Montgomery-House practices will move into the new building and will continue to operate as separate practices. The only other local medical practice, Bicester Health Centre, will stay and expand on its present site in Coker Close.

The new facility should mean extra health services will be based in Bicester and there will be much needed additional capacity to take on more patients as the town’s population booms. It’s hoped that agreements can be reached to enable the new surgery to open to patients in 2022.
