New GPs and Allocation to patient lists

The Practice has recruited 4 new GPs to taken account of our growing patient list and changes within the Practice.

This will mean that we are having to reallocate patients to ensure each GP is able to provide the appropriate care and also cover the administrative workload that goes alongside their patient list.  This means each GP will have about 500 patients for each day they work

We appreciate that patients do build up a relationship with their GP and some may be reallocated to another GP.  Unfortunately in managing the GP’s workload this cannot be avoided.

We strongly encourage patients to see their nominated GP whenever possible to ensure continuity of care.  Seeing another GP means that that GP’s patients have reduced opportunities to see them.

Changes within the Practice include: Dr O’Leary left on 12 July, and Dr Athappilly finishes on 31 August.  Dr O’Gorman has reduced the number of sessions worked in the Practice as he is now the Chair for the Clinical Commissioning Group for our locality.  Dr Thornton (locum) who has been covering maternity leave leaves us in late September – in the meantime he has reduced the number of sessions worked till then.

Dr Josh Scales (m) joins the Practice on 7 August and has taken over patients from Dr O’Gorman, Dr Thornton and those patients previously under Dr Harman who is on maternity leave.

Dr Michelle Chellar (f) joins the Practice on 7 August and has taken over Dr O’Leary’s patient list.

Dr Charlotte Evans (f) joins the Practice on 15 September and will be taking over Dr Athappilly’s patient list.

Dr Mia Lyon (f) joins the Practice on 30 September and will be taking over Dr Thornton’s patient list.

We will be texting patients over the coming months with details of their nominated GP.
