Practice
Nursing Services
We have 4
practice nurses who are trained
to assess and provide nursing
care to patients within the
practice. You can consult with
the nurses directly without
seeing a doctor first. They
offer appointments throughout
the working week providing a
range of services described
previously, as well as wound
care, ear syringing, removal of
stitches and other clinical
care.
Our healthcare assistants are
trained to take blood for
laboratory testing, do
audiograms, ECGs, measure blood
pressure and fit ambulatory
monitoring machines.
District Nurses
District
nurses are specially trained to
assess nursing need and provide
care to patients and their
families in their own homes.
They care for a wide range of
people, including post-operative
surgical patients, people with
long-term medical conditions and
palliative care needs. The
district nurses can be contacted
on (01869) 248683 (answerphone
available).
Health visitors
All health
visitors are qualified nurses
who have had additional training
in family and child health,
health promotion and education.
They work with families and
children of all ages in their
homes and local community
settings, and have special
expertise in the everyday
challenges of parenthood.
They can be contacted on (01869)
247526 (answerphone available).
Midwives
The
midwives hold weekly clinics in
the practice. They can be
contacted at their main office
on (01869) 243763 where an
answerphone will take messages.
For more urgent matters, please
contact the midwife on Oxford
(01865) 221696 during normal
working hours and throughout
evenings and weekends.
Counsellors
Your doctor
can refer you to our counsellor
who is based in the practice if
it is felt that this may be
helpful for you.
Dispensers
Our
Dispensers dispense medication
only to patients who live
outside the town.
Administrative
support team
The
practice is supported by a range
of non-clinical staff. The
receptionists are here to help
you make appointments, answer
questions and perform other
important duties.
Our medical secretary deals with
referral letters and other
correspondence. Our data team
provide important data to help
us monitor our services, and our
dispensers provide medications
as prescribed.
The practice manager is
responsible for all non-clinical
aspects of the practice,
including staff, finance,
premises, computers and
services. The finance assistant
helps with the financial affairs
of the practice.
